Flowverse AMA: Badazz Bears

Please introduce yourself, your team and your background

I'm the Creative Director at Disrupt Art. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2020. At UC I majored in Digital Media with a focus on Design and Animation. Many of my personal projects draw inspiration from Video Games and Film. Right now I currently working on launching Badazz Bears. We have a small team comprised of people from Disrupt Art and Jim Jones' team.‍

Can you give us a high-level overview of your project? What is the vision and mission? ‍

Badazz Bears is a project backed by Jim Jones, an American rapper. It's based on original concepts from his Uncle. Jim’s Uncle spent much of his time in prison and turned to Art as a point of connection and healing with his family. A major focus of this project is to empower communities and create awareness for criminal justice reform through support of organizations like the REFORM Alliance. The first mint will be for 1,801 Bears. We plan on letting collectors customize their Bears later on.

Why did you build on Flow vs. SOL, BSC, ETH etc? And if you could go into more detail of what advantages did you see in Flow that helped you make your decision? ‍

Sustainability was a major factor due to how much less energy and gas uses compared to other Blockchains. Flow was also built for NFTs and often focuses on the wider adoption of Blockchain Technology. We share some of the same objectives as Flow and Dapper Labs including making NFTs more accessible to everyone. It just seemed like the perfect fit for Disrupt Art and Badazz Bears.

‍Do you have any upcoming NFT drops or token sales and if so, can you tell us about them?

We're having a Private Mint for Badazz Bears. On June 20th, people signed up for the Bear Cave (Presale List) will have an opportunity to mint a Badazz Bears before anyone else. 1,801 mints will be available for minting. On June 22nd Badazz Bears will become available to the public.‍

What differentiates your project from other similar projects? Are there any other similar projects including on other chains?‍

Badazz Bears will be minted on the Disrupt Art Platform with the Dapper Wallet, and will use Rarible as a secondary marketplace. A Build-a-Bear system is planned for this project. Badazz Bear holders will be able to customize their Bear to add Traits & Accessories. Later in the project the community will even be able to help create new traits and leave their mark on this project. We were inspired by other projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and Flovatar.

Are there plans to collaborate with any third parties (in and beyond the Flow ecosystem) to help grow your community and brand?

Yes. We want to work with other Flow Projects to add traits and build upon the already amazing community in the Flowverse. We're also considering working with bigger brands too depending on the success of the project. The goal is to bring as much value as possible to Bear Holders. Owning a Bear is much more than a PFP project. By owning a Bear you are getting what amounts to a membership to all the things we plan to add to the project, such as Custom Bears, IRL Merch,  Events, etc.

Tell us more about what’s in the pipeline/roadmap ahead

Badazz Bears doesn’t end when we are sold out. We will build tools so that collectors can switch out traits and drip out their Bears whenever they want. Then we will plan out trait drops and community voting on new traits. We are also planning on continuously supporting the community and our partners through the combined efforts of everyone in the community. We will have Merch Releases, NFT Giveaways, New Trait Drops, and much much more.‍
